I need to shoot interior photos for a hotel (as a favor for a friend). I went to buy a sigma 10-20 the other day but when they found out I owned a Canon Mark III, they cautioned/warned me about vignetting. Can anyone recommend a suitable and/or the best wide angle lens I could use for interior shots? Thanks in advance.

With the 1D III I believe you have to stick to lenses designed for Full Frame bodies such as the Sigma DG or Canon EF series, Sigma DC and Canon EF-S cannot be used. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
The closest compatible Sigma Zoom to the one you specified is the 12-24mm F4.5-5.6 EX DG ASPHERICAL HSM and you also might get away with the Canon 16-35mm f2.8L. The best lens as Trent says is probably the Canon 14mm f2.8L II. |

Btw, just remembered that Brooks wrote a great post about the very thing you are asking about. Hang on, I'll try finding it for you.
Edit: here it is. |

A different suggestion. With external or internal architectural photography there is never a lens wide enough. For those situations I have used a 16mm fisheye at f 8-f16 with great results using available de-fishing software. The 16-35 mm II although an improvement over the previous one that I owned, it is not to sharp at the edges at f8-f11 (at least mine).

Try the 15mm fish eye as Jose says, Canons is an amazing lens as good as any L series, the lens distortion is not as bad on MK3 and easily straighten in PS or third party software for fish eyes
