Default 28-135 IS

I'm considering selling my 23-135 IS lens because I don't use it much at all. If I sell it and regret letting it go, are there other, newer lenses (with IS) that are a good replacement for this one?

As far as I know, the 28-135 IS is still in production. If you regret selling it you should be able to find another one pretty easily.

If you "don't use it much at all", why would you regret selling it? One would assume you have other coverage in that range that you use more...?

Give ya $20 for it

I do have a zoom lens (Tamron) that covers most of that range and which I like better optically--it's f/2.8. But it does not have IS. So really the only reason I keep that 28-135 is for the IS, but it's a dark lens, so it really needs the IS.

Yes, EF24-105F4.0L IS USM.

Tad wider, tad shorter, but F4 all-the-way, 3rd Gen IS (3 stops) not a bad s*cker, doesn't rotate front element when zooming/focussing (alike 28-135), does extend (alike 28-135 ), comes with a hood & soft pouch. Nice, contrasty, sharp L of a zoom, weathersealed back (nice if attached to 1-series or 40D/50D) standard 77mm filter size, no 'thin CP' necessary on FF, auto de-vignetting etc (Lens Light Optimisation) is available in-body (50D) or when processing through DPP...

...€0.02...

Kindest regards!

28-135 Is was made 1998
Lens are not comparable with the today's high quality Cameras with 4 or more pixels
You can still use them, but you're not going to get the same quality and sharpens as the new lens,
Plus all the electronics are deferred and better
That is one off the reasons Canon made a Kit with the 40D,to get rid off all the old 28-128 Is lens
As you have see within pass year those lens drop $200.00-300.00
Then if you re going to sale them I do think it's a good Idea to do it now before you get $100.00 for the lens
