Default EOS-1D Mk III Battery Recalibration

FWIW:

Yesterday morning when checking remaining battery power I got the 'please recalibrate battery at next recharge' message/warning.

As remaining power was under 40% (38% remaining) I pulled the battery out, inserted the spare one, and put the battery in the loader. In there also the 'warning-needs recalibration' light went on (the cal/charge led blinks in red), so I pressed the <calibrate>-button.

The battery was then completely discharged and completely recharged, a process that took well over 6 hours.

End result was a battery with 3x green light in the loader, and three green stripes (100% OK) in-camera

...€0.02...

Kindest regards!

I've always noticed that rechargeable (of nearly all chemistry) batteries benefit from being "conditioned" from time to time throughout their life. The conditioner that I have for my "AA" batteries can do a full charge-discharge cycle 2 or 3 times and provides a final reading on actual charge capacity at the end. The entire process takes between 40 and 50 hours and is recommended every 50-60 cycles or so.
