Default That 350D is some camera.

I bought it for an on going project I am doing on conjunction with a local newspaper. It was bought for the quiet shutter in a concert, recital stage shots and yesterday we have the centre pages in colour and this email from the editor this morning:

“Hi Ger,

Great pics again tonight on the Echo.

The new press is working well with your Canon.... plus your good photography.

Well done”

But you bought the 350D for the quieter shutter? That thing is incredibly loud! I've used it during drum concerts (and that's loud) and I was embarrassed by the noise I was making and I was expecting to be thrown out. What do you compare it with that is noisier?

The IDMKII. I mentioned in another post that in a large hall, a woman came from the very front row to ask me to leave with that camera. I’ve been told several times that the 1DMKII was very loud.

Mind you, a few posters have complained that the 350D is loud, which leads me to assume that not all are as quite. In a typical auditorium people say five seats away don’t hear my 350D.

Compare that to people hearing it 30 metres away over the heads of a 1,500 audience.

They're all loud in my mind......at least when my face is pressed up against them and I trip the shutter

Oh - so that's why it's called a Canon - and the bigger they are, the louder they get!

The 20D makes the 1D mark II sound as silent as a mouse...

B!TCH, B!TCH B!TCH, my old Canon T-70 film camera, when it shoots and advances the film sounds like toilet flushing. Just sounds normal to me. My little Oly 3030Z is totally silent, my Kodak 14n sounded like you dropped the venetian blinds. Most of the time, my dogs just ignore it.

I bet you don't do a lot of shooting in concert halls, churches, theaters, and places like that either, where even a small amount of noise can be annoying. I have a good reason for looking for something quiet.
