Hi,
I own a EF-S 17-85 F4-5.6 IS USM lens for almost 4 years now. Lately I start to notice that the zoom is becoming very loose. Especially when it's on 50 mm small pressure to the lens is enough to let the lens creep to 17mm. For example when I try to adjust the Polarisation filter I use. It is not as bad as the zoom creep on the early EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM which was repaired by Canon, but it is starting to annoy me. Anybody else noticed that the zoom is getting looser overtime? Maybe it's just the L fever I got recently, but would I win something in quality when I decide to replace it with an L lens? For example the 17-40 or the 24-105 L lenses? Or is it worth it to get it repaired by Canon? To be honest, I don't have any other complaints about this lens. Thanks Andre __________________

Hmmm, I looked at the website of the company which handles repair in The Netherlands. When you don't agree with the qoute you have to pay about 50 euro's ( $72) for research, minimum repair costs are 61 euro's.
Maybe I just have to stop getting annoyed about the creep... |
