Regarding the high-iso images i must say im pleasantly suprised of the quality it shows even at 3200 & 6400.. it feels like the 5Dmk2 6400 is roughly equivalent to the 1600 on my 40D, which for me would mean a huge improvent and actually worth the upgrade in itself
*edit: and again i post before im done =) I was to add that i generally do not produce for large size print using high iso images. Thats mostly for web and newspaper publications. So the quality shown on the high iso examples are perfect for that.

Best,

It's always tough for me to distinguish one camera from another using samples like these. I guess they're good, but so are samples from so many other cameras. I think if I had no camera at all, I'd look seriously at the new 5D. I'm not sure whether it's worth upgrading to over any recently released DSLR, however.

Good points JD. From these examples they look really good though. For indoor sports shooting I think it would make a very large difference for me. The combination of that and the other great new features, I think it's worth the upgrade/ addition. I would still use The 40D for outdoor sports probably, but for Landscapes, portraits and such I think the Full frame, Awesome High res 3"display and HD video are enough to justify the money I would need some new glass though which hurts the wallet. I also need a good monitor!! Money money money!

Best,
Jay

Good points. Honestly I will have to evaluate whether it makes sense for me to keep my current 1DS Mark II, which I love, but its technology is being eclipsed in so many ways that it will probably drop dramatically in value. What remains superior about the 1-series cameras is the body.
