Yeah, I noticed the ISO started at 200 I think it was.. Even my PS starts at 80. As far as the CCD vs CMOS thing go's (from what I was reading) it don't sound like it makes that much of a difference on the lower end cameras re: price point it takes a lot of effort to make a CMOS work better then a CCD =time and money and the bottom line however the CCD and CMOS seem to be a close match from the start with both having good as well as bad attributes. both nikon and canon are great
cameras IMO and both have a lot available I think for me it's just going to be the value of the two at this point.. Do I sound confused yet? lol

Default Here's How I feel about the two cameras...

I have a 10D; 30D and a 350D and I am upgrading to a 40D. The camera which I am going to sell is NOT the 10D, it's the 350D. The imagery between the 10D and 350D is comparable and viewing older images, I cannot tell which camera shot which.

However, I just like the control system of the 10D better than that of the 350D. The 10D has two wheels and a topside LCD for adjusting exposure, frame rate, etc. With the 350D, everything is done with the menu or a miniscule LCD window on the back of the camera.

I also like the size of the 10D better (even with the battery grip for the 350D) especially with heavier lenses.

The batteries for the 10D are compatible with my other cameras and the 350D batteries are not...

One final thing about the 350D which I know is operator error but which the control setup of the 350D leads to. The drive control button is located right where my thumb sits when I am shooting. I have often switched the frame rate to self-timer in error by hitting that darn button. When I press the shutter button and the self timer begins cooking off, I am liable to say "S__T! I have done it again!

Default I have both the 10D and the 350D

However, I agree that a better model for the single camera person would be a 20D. The 20D is far superior in handling than the 350D AND the 20D will accept EF-S lenses which the 10D cannot do.

If you purchased the 10D you could not use any of the new generation EF-S lenses such as the great Canon 17-55mm f/2.8 IS and the Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8.

A used 20D should not cost much more than a used 10D or a used 350D. The prices for these cameras are really tumbling.

This is a moot point since he bought a Nikon, but it might help others. The Tamron 17-50 f/2.8 is an EF mount, not EF-S, so it WILL work on a 10D. The image circle IS smaller than full frame, so even though it will mount to a full frame camera, the image won't expose the entire sensor.

Thanks for clearing up that point. I didn't realize that it was an EF mount lens.
