What's wrong with having DOF preview? I don't use it often, but I have used it.

OK, OK. So I probably wouldn't miss it if it weren't there.

Don't wait too long....
Buy 5D now if you need fullframe camera (u will not lost moment), then if 5D M11 release replace with the new one.
But
If you don't need fullframe, go to 1Ds Mk111 this is very good camera for model/studio which is you don't need ISO6400 or higher.

Just my 2 cent

Hmm, how about Nikon D3.., low noise ,fullframe, 9fps

My guess is that the 5DMkII will have all of the features introduced since the original (3in LCD, Live view and self-cleaning sensor). It will be 16+ megapixel, taking the slot formerly held by the old 1DsMkII. It'll probably have a new battery, like the XSi, meaning the 5D batteries and grips will not be compatible. And once again Canon will fail to provide built-in wireless control of Speedlites.

Just speculation on my part.

Let me know what I think
Canon will market the 5D II , this has to be soon
Then they will make a new one 7D (by Feb 2009) a mid between the 5d and the 5dII , full frame at a lesser price. Wait some time
Believe me

Huh? The 5D replacement will come "soon" and then six months later they'll introduce an entire new line of FF bodies? Is that what you're saying?

If you don't have any sources, I'll tuck this away with the UFO stories and the theory that President Bush is actually an alien from Alpha Centauri.

GSK,IF you can acquire a 5D body from B&H for 90 days, you will have the opportunity to determine if this cameras images meet your standards. If it does, your dilemna should be solved.Otherwise, there will be no definite answer until a likely successor comes out and that's a long time to wonder. The current 5D is probably the best deal going in FF the way the price is dropping.

DNA tests aren't back yet. Don't ask what it took to get the samples.

Historically, I don't see what you see.

The entry level Rebels and mid-range dSLRs have an 18 month product cycle. The 450D/XSi was just released and shouldn't see a replacement until autumn of 2009. The 40D was released in fall of 2007 and will probably have an upgrade/replacement next February/March at PMA.

The 5D has been on the market for a full THREE YEARS, released in mid-2005 (announced in August of that year at Photokina). This is an entirely new class of body, not quite fulfilling the "pro" status of a 1D/1Ds but giving more features and FF capabilities over the x0D series.

With no competition in the FF prosumer category, there was no inclination to get more aggressive with model releases. Why bother putting a new camera out every 18 months if no one else can compete with a sub-$3000 FF body? Nikon addressed this category with their D700 recently. To me, that says the category is going to be around awhile. A six month upgrade cycle is a bit aggressive for Canon, though.

I expect to see a 5D replacement in August. After that, I would expect Canon to fall back on their 18 month product cycle as long as Nikon and Sony (24MP FF prototype shown at PMA this year) are in the game.
