Default Experience with Sigma repair service?

I recently bought a Sigma 24-60 f2.8 lens for my 40D. Everything is coming out way too soft in my opinion. It was purchased through Cameta Camera's Amazon store. Has anyone any experience with returning a lens to Sigma for repair or calibration? Is anyone out there using this lens and if so, what is your impression with it? I spent my lens budget on a Canon L lens so I am stuck with the Sigma for now. If I can get a sharper lens either by repair or recalibration I would be happy.

I've heard some people have the same problem with different lenses. Nice thing is that Sigma's warranty would cover it.

I've got a sigma 135-400 that i bought several years ago in st. thomas for my film camera and when i bought my 20d a few years later i got an error 99 code when i put it on my camera. I called sigma and told them i've had the lens for a long time and it's well out of warranty, they said send it in, they re-chipped it and sent it back to me in a couple of days, NO CHARGE. I own a lot of canon lenses but keep this one for use around the water. Nice crisp pic's and great people to deal with.

Well I sent the first lens back to Cameta Camera and they sent me a replacement. Had the same problem with the second lens so I returned that one also. To Cameta's credit they gave me a full refund, no problems whatsoever. I will never buy another Sigma due to their poor quality control, but I would like others to know how much I appreciated the customer service I received from Cameta Camera.

I recently sent my second-hand 50-500mm EX back to Sigma as it wasn't focusing quite right. I called them a few days later to see what they were going to charge me for calibration or whatever. The rep said that it was being repaired under warranty. That was good. 18 days after Sigma received the lens I had it back and found it to be much better at getting good sharp focus. It'll never be as good as my Canon 300 f/4 IS L but then I didn't expect that.

Needless to say, I'm quite happy with Sigma service.
