Since there aren't many 1D posts I thought we can keep most/all info at one place, especially that the new releases (1DIII & 1DsIII) are practically the same. In addition, there are few people here who are interested in this series, so this could be of help to them too.
You don't have to post/ask here of course. First question, did you do Micro Adjustment to your lens(es). If so, what prompted you to adjust. Also, what were your results (+/-). For me, the lenses I tried seems to work fine, though I'm not into that ruler thing/testing. __________________

...then again, I am pretty 'noise tolerant' if it stays within the shades, and is 'only' luminance noise, chrominace noise I can 'battle' with excellent results in DPP using the NR sliders and by LensCorrections: ColorBlur tool ![]() ...€0.02... Kindest regards! Max@Home |

Max, I read somewhere (maybe here) that Canon adjusted their ISO numbers to be the same as ISO (nternational Organization for Standardization) standards. If that's true, do you know which models did they start the adjustment with.
I suspect that the new 1D ISO, say 200, is equivalent to 5D's ~400. Or something like that. |

Here is an example...after noise reduction. Was shot at 1/20 sec, f2.8, at ISO 800. With a bounced flash.
Even with much reduced size I can still see some noise. This is how the pic was taken, it's not a crop. ![]() |

It does seem to be an odd way of showing noise problems. And I agree: that looks pretty "clean" to me.

It's on the cup.
In any case, I'm not trying to prove that this cam is good/bad at high ISO. I don't care about little variation. The pic post was related to ISO standards/measurements by Canon (see my question to Max earlier). |

Oh, silly me. I keep forgetting that you don't just follow a normal pattern. I thought this was in reference and an example to this post....
If you are seeing noise in a white cup, then you got some issues. Perhaps it isn't "noise"? Perhaps it is specular lighting reflected by the white porous or non-perfectly smooth surface of the cup? Or the fact that the cup is glazed? |

Not that I can see. And noise typically shows up in blacks before whites.

This is also a good reason NOT to "consolidate" threads. Multiple discussions within the same thread leads to confusion. |

Mr.P, you have a good point about the nature of the material (the cup).
Have to admit, I only posted the pic because I posted it somewhere else, so it was ready. Call me lazy if you will Though I can see noise in other pics, but let's forget about that. |
