Ah, that's another story. If he makes money from the photos then he should get two cameras not just two batteries

He already has two cameras. I doubt he'd get rid of both of his current bodies if he bought a 1D.

So tell me 00silver, will Sandisk drop their prices after the rebate period is over (end of June). Just bought a Ridata 16GB (in the mail) as a temp solution until Sandisk drop the prices. Can you check with your contact please.

I would get a second battery, without thinking about it. I wouldn't care if the one I had shot 2000 or 10000 images before it runs out of juice.

How many shots is that $50 battery gonna give you if it dies from something other than longevity about 10min into a long shoot?

Redundancy is a good thing.

It's more like $110, Mr.P.

Edit: it's closer to $120 at B&H.

If you want the real Canon model it is.....They aren't the only company making batteries...especially emergency spare ones.

Do you know any third party that make those batteries, Mr.P. If I'm not mistaken, Max said there aren't. At least not now, maybe in the future. But better wait for Max to be sure.

I will ask, but I really doubt he would have some insight regarding this, since he is one of their engineers, not a sales guy. I use his employee discount to get my CF cards. Which for that particular application, CF's, are way below best market. But for somethings, like those fancy small cards for telephones for anything that is avant garde, it is sometimes still cheaper to buy from Amazon. I recently bough an extra Extreme III 8GB card for $65.00 shipped/sales tax.

LOL, it is more like $150 retail for the Canon and $99 for a non-Canon.

I was going to ask about that. Batteries, provided they are manufactured with the same tolerances should be equal. However, Canon, Nikon, etc. makes huge profits from the sale of a battery since it is an accessory. They may eat some profits from the body and some lenses, but they will nail you for batteries, charges, remote control, etc. Hence the Wireless adaptor for the Canon can cost you an arm and your first born, whereas the Eye One WIFI is $99. I know they are different devices, but in principle does similar things. But you would think Canon can come up with a slightly cheaper alternative then the current one.

The plan is to make tons of money from this purchase. That's the plan at least. LOL I am keeping the two bodies, I have now, it would not be prudent or cost effective to sell either one, since the resell value for both bodies are quite low. It would make sense to me to sell the XT for $200 when I can still use it as a nice backup to the 30D. It also would not make sense to sell the 30D since it is a great backup to the 1D3. I think I would rather let my wife use the XT, so she can get into this hobby and maybe she will finally understand the hooplah! LOL

I have 2 sets of spares 6 batteries total for each of my current cameras, but they don't last no where near the 1D batteries. They also don't cost nearly as much. So guys, let me know about these third party 1D batteries, I'd really like to have some money left over for my next goal: 300mm f/2.8 L IS. LOL

...know your gear: see GBee's report: 2000-3000 shots on one charge when using 16-35/24-70/anything-non-IS ?? yep, easily! But throw a 70-200F2.8L IS, 100-400L IS or 300/400F2.8 L IS in the mix, all relative 'older generation' IS systems, and your numbers drop to 1250 - 2500...

...and at 10 FPS, that is about 2 to 4 minutes worth of actual shooting time...

...BTW: seen this yet ?? The clip in itself is nice but even nicer IMO is the second-option-from-above on the right side of the screen: you'll probably like the soundtrack of this 'behind the scene/how it is made' movie

...€0.02...

Kindest regards!

I got my eye set on the Wireless SD thingy...SD seems more flimsy, but smaller, easier to store, but also easier to lose.
