Default Canon 1DsMkII Tethered on Mac OS 10.5 - Anyone?

Is anyone successfully shooting tethered via firewire on a Mac OS 10.5 and a Canon pro series body? I was able to do this in 10.4 but upon trying with new computer the other day, no luck. When I connect the camera and turn it on, the EOS software attempts to launch but returns a message that there was a communication error with the Camera. I gather from some research that there might be something about 10.5 that is not working properly with the EOS utilities, but haven't found anything that specifically states that as fact.

So the question is: If you are doing it, would you mind sending me or posting the config you are using(including versions of the various s/w) and the steps you took to get it working?

Thanks
Bill

...do you have the latest versions installed ? Yesterday a whole new 'EOS Utility Disk' was launched, new versions for Windows (for Vista Sp1) and for MAC:

From RobGalbraith:

Headlining the list of changes is the addition of 16 new lenses eligible for the lens aberration correction function in DPP 3.4.1, while Canon shooters on the Mac will welcome the fact that both it and EOS Utility 2.4 are now promised to be compatible with Mac OS X 10.5.x (which means, among other things, that tethering capability is restored for some though not all digital SLRs).

The link...

...FWIW, *my* €0.02...

Kindest regards!

Yep, the real update is compatibility with Vista Sp1 and MAC 10.5.x

Not much news, or it would be, that in DPP 3.4.1 at JPG/TIFF noise reduction you now also have 2 sliders for luminance and chrominance, and going from 0-10 in stead of off-low-high

...€0.02...

Kindest regards!

Just wanted to update that the EOS Utility Update 2.4 resolved the tethered firewire problem on the 1DsMkII. Now, trying to determine what the longest firewire cable I can use with it. Want to shoot from the Monfrotto 25' camera stand.

There are Active Firewire booster cables just as you have active USB cables. Dunno how good they are ,as im on a 40D and using active usb cables but for the 40D they work wonders and im right now using 12 meters worth of usb cable (2 active 5m and a normal 2 m for the last stretch) which is all i need in my studio.
