EOS 5D version 1.1.1:
added support for larger-than 8Gb CF cards, and added EXIF support for several new lenses. EOS 30D version 1.0.6: added EXIF support for several new lenses. The improved EXIF support is especially useful when using the CA lens-correction feature in Canon's Digital Photo Professional version 3.2. ...€0.02... Kindest regards! Max@Home __________________

Just to be clear, no bashing or anything like that, but do they have to add an firmware update to read out info from the lenses to be added to exif
![]() I thought all canon lesses were CPU lenses and therefor there should be no difference because the redaout from the lens should be the same for all lenses. I have never heard of an firmware release to add EXIF support for any other brand. Any input on this ![]() |

It remains a number for the Canon software (DigitalPhotoProfessional) that uses that number to do the correct 'lenscorrections' ![]() But if the camerabody doesn't recognise the number, no info is fed into the EXIF field, and DPP won't do it's magic... ...€0.02... Kindest regards! Max@Home |

So, are we talking about the maker notes field. All CPU lenses contains the following info and that is always available in EXIF, so that does not need to be fixed: Min focal lenght Max focal lenght Min aperture Max Aperture Lens type (AF, MF, AF-S and so on) the maker notes contains proprietary data, so only the caerma and/or the camera manufacturer knows how to extract that info. iMatch exif viewer supporta a few of those notes. __________________
