Default Canon launches DPP3.2

Yesterday Canon launched Digital Photo Professional version 3.2 update.

A major update that adds a lot of new tools: from the Release Note:

Changes for Digital Photo Professional 3.2 for Windows Vista/Windows XP/Windows 2000:

1. Added support for EOS 40D and EOS-1Ds Mark III. (40D ships with v3.1)

2. Added Lens aberration correction function (for correcting peripheral illumination, distortion, chromatic aberration, and color blur).
Please refer to User's Manuals (PDF) for the supported models and the target lens in Digital Photo Professional 3.2.

3. Highlight/shadow warning function has been added. Can now check for blown highlight and shadowing on the screen.

4. High speed (moiré reduction off) has been added to the High Quality display mode for RAW images.

5. Retain sort order function in the main window has been added.

6. 100% has been added to the enlargement ratio that appears on the Quick Check window. (Previously 50% only)

...FWIW...

...*my* €0.02...

Kindest regards,

Max@Home

I downloaded it a couple of days ago but no lens correction for 20D bodies with any of the available lens modules. I guess I'll be trying it more when I get a 40D.

I don't see much of a difference, the auto refresh is broken again, and overall speed is improved, but I suspect that it was a case of the previous version being very slow.

I've this on three machines and I was using my backup yesterday a 800Mhz P3 and it seemed snappy enough, I was surprised.

Hi aam1234,

Yes, I do

In the Tools/Preferences/General Settings TAB, you have the ability to determine wether you want the RAW images to show FAST (and uncorrected) or HIGH QUALITY, in which case Moiré is reduced, and you have the ability to use the TOOLS palette.

Some users have complained that reducing the Moiré is a bad option: they start tinkering/editing an image, only to find out after the conversion that it is Moiré affected...

So now you have the ability to show the image HIGH QUALITY, use the TOOLS Palette, but have the Moiré correction turned OFF, showing a 'true-er' image.

...hope this helps, *my* €0.02 and all...

Kindest regards!

I've been a big fan of DPP for a while. Lately I've rediscovered what it can do to hasten my workflow for event pictures. Definitely a part of a high quality, expedited workflow.
