The D60 is still the image champ, in some respects. Its colors are warm, it doesn't blow highlights easily, and its silky-smooth images have really not been matched by another Canon camera that I've seen (although I've not used the D30, I understand that camera produces wonderful pictures as well).
Does the 5D match up in terms of image quality? I'm not talking merely about pixels, obviously. I'm talking about image quality. ![]() __________________

some say nikon's images are better, some say canon's are better, some say D60 is the best, some say 20D is the best...bla bla bla bla...well for me..
I bet the difference (if it exist) is very very little and SHOULD be neglectible. I dont really care. My main concern for a camera body is its handling and overall performance. thats it. ![]() |

Being a D60 owner, I'm an expert on this subject
![]() Seriously, I think the D60 still gets better color straight out of the camera than the newer models. But what are we talking? Small bits and things. Kind of like the perfect unsharp mask and one that went 10% too far. Not really noticeable, but it is there. I think the newer ones beat the D60 when it gets to iso800, and above that, the D60 gets smoked (of course the D60 only goes to 1000). So if the noise at a higher iso is a factor in image quality, and is important to whomever, then the D60 suffers there. Just remember, the D60 was released one day from the Nikon D100, and Nikon has finally announced that cameras replacement, When they were both released, there wasn't much difference in the quality. I think the D60 is a very capable camera, even to this day....and read the signature. |

agree with Mr.Pickels... D60 is still a powerful camera even in these days... I think no DSLR in the market now is bad...all of em are capable, all of em are decent cameras. Of course some are better than the other.. especially in terms of their built quality, speed, handling, durability,etc..
Come on! if I give you two similar A4 sized prints. One from a cheapoo pentax istDL and the other one is from a canon 1dSmkII...would you be able to distinguish..which is which? ..I know I can't (given that both are using similar level lenses). So come ooon...be real...there's no point of comparing 5D with D60...or D2x with 1dSMkII etc etc etc... ...again...agree with mr Pickels... having the best doesnt mean you are...truee!! |

I was referring to RAW, as in straight out of the camera. I was also mentioning that it was a small increment. And also the higher the ISO, the worse the image is on the D60, so at the high ISO's the 5D is better. But to me, the colors are better on the D60.
