Default Loving the ST-E2 transmitter

What a time to make a brand switch! I have another 30D coming in the mail to compliment the one that I got last week. Nikon stuff is all but gone.

30D amazes me at 800 and above ISO. Also, the lenses I wanted were only offered by Canon. I have a 17-55mm IS now and a 70-200mm f/4 IS coming.

My Speedlights came tonight, and I really like them with the ST-E2 transmitter.

Just playing around tonight since my 430EX's came in along with my ST-E2 transmitter.

So far, I'm very happy. Kinda sucks that I only control an A and B group as opposed to A, B and C, but whatever. I was happy to discover I can still shoot in AB mode and add as many singular manual 430EX's as I want. Cool. That means I can maintain AB ratios and still have a background and hairlight that doesnt change. If I need to adjust in manual, I have to go over to the flash, but thats okay by me. This is very cool. Anyway, here's a shot of the pup with 430EX shot thru an umbrella.

Congrats on getting a piece of equipment you really like. Great shot too.

That is how I felt about Pocket Wizards when I shot my sons collage graduation. Was in a sports arena to hold everyone. Noticed the sports strobes in the rafters, pulled out a PW, attached it to the camera and tried it for fun. Apparently the default channel for the sport strobes is the default channel for the PW's cause they went off. Also it appears that the sport strobes are automatically turned on with the lights. Well a couple of us with PW's had a ball shooting with the strobes. No one noticed at all, as fast as those strobes are. Have fun with the ST-E2.

ST-E2 rocks, indoors short range, reasonable line of sight = perfect.

Outdoors: WATCH THE LINE OF SIGHT! ...as you have no walls to bounce the signals around, you really need to see the red flashing AF assist lights of your flashes from where you stand & shoot to get good results

But if you see them, ST-E2 still rocks!

Off camera flash is good stuff. I use a 580EX on the camera to control two 430EXs.
