Default 1D Mk III - Shooters Insight

Go to the site below, and then click on Insight-Video on the right side for 4 "pros" talking and using the new toy...

Canon Digital Learning Center - Shooter's Insight: EOS-1D Mark III

Glad they mention some of the features that are new to Canon

Great link Mr. P. Excellent video quality, and it seems this camera is 100% perfect in every way. Or maybe that's because it's a Canon promotion....

Perfect? The DR is not much better, if at all, then the any and all prior DSLR 1D series bodies.....DR is the one area all the makes are making little headway in and that really sucks for what I use a camera for...

So far I've seen nothing from this camera that justifies the orgy of anticipation we've seen in certain places.

I would have to agree...until Canon boosts DR at least 2 stops, 500 frames/sec, and 50 bit/channel color is all so blah...I want human eye DR!

What is human eye DR? Has anyone measured it? I find it hard to see in the dark but my digicams seem able to resolve things given enough time. Another question - if a camera ever exceeds 'human eye DR' will anyone be able to see it

Thanks for the link, Mr. Pickles.. Just the camera needed for work. There are 25 photographers in my team, and I've already requested a budget to upgrade the gear for everybody with the new 16-35 f2.8 II and the 580EX II.

I work at a large publishing firm with 14 publications, and photography requirements are a lot.

Waleed - sounds like a great setup you have there . I've been using the 16-35 II recently on the 5D and have been very happy with it. Seems to be a bit hit and miss reading the personal reviews but certainly works well enough for me.

Thanks Paul, I was blessed with a talented group of people that make our sports publications pop.. I bet we sell the publications for the photos, not the analysis..

Currently, we have a mixture of 1DII, 1DIIN, and a bunch of old non-pro bodies, but all new purchases would be 1DIII. I was surprised to see a Canon EOS D60 body, 20D and a couple of Nikon D100 and D200 bodies.. Lots of cleaning up to do, hehe..
