For those who own a 1D camera that has ISO 50. Do you find it worse than ISO 100 or do you find the quality of the ISO 50 photos to be just as good?
I did some shots in my studio without strobes and long exposure both in ISO 50 and ISO 100 and compared the pictures side by side and I saw no degradation in quality at ISO 50. __________________

it's a good question...
I've tried ISO 50 on my 1Ds and it seems just fine. It's the Native ISO on my P25, so I am getting used to it, and the demands it places on the phtographer, but the images with the P25 are outa this world!! but for the 1Ds it's nice to have the options and the noiselessness up to 800ISO cheers |

I've tried those same tests, and I saw no advantage and had the feeling the pics were actually a bit worse. I've forgotten how now, but I remember concluding that Canon must have made ISO 50 tough to get to for a reason.
I ignore it. |

I've been very pleased with the ISO 50 on my 1D Mark II. It's already a superior camera in the area of noise reduction (I shot a wedding this weekend at mostly ISO 1600 or 3200), and I am hard pressed to make significant distinction between images shot at ISO 50, 100, or 200. Then again, I have not done exhaustive comparisons. My primary use for it is basically as a 1-stop ND filter that should not affect the quality of the image one way or another.
