I think his last sentence about less efficient microlenses is the reason.* I believe the 5D microlenses were derived from the original 1DS sensor, while the 1DS Mk.II features updated microlenses.

It's interesting that two of the lenses chosen are notorious for falloff.

Saves me from having to go into Photoshop > Filter > Distort > Lens Correction and add dark vignetting to burn in my edges!

LOL. I'm a huge sucker for that effect, too. I usually add it in ACR, but I'll do it like JohnC says if I have to crop.

Strange, beings the pixel pitch on the 1D is smaller than the 5D, you'd think it would be the opposite?

Sorry but I am confused here as the thread seems to start in the middle of a conversation? Someone please let me know the purpose of this thread as I am interested haveing a 5D. i.e. I am interested in something that I don't quite get cos I don't understand the problem. i.e. maybe I should just go back to bed!

I'm curious why you go that route? Why not just add a layer>soft light>Fill w/50% gray>burn tool?
Thanks

Because just as there are fifty ways to leave your lover, there are just as many to do the same thing in PS.

This is a fact of life with Full Frame. I get it with 5D and 24-105. The issues that buged me most was my 5D and Bigma (sigma 50-500) I hated it and brought a 30D just for the bigma because I couldnt stand to sell the Bigma. Give me a second body as well

I do not recommend the 5D if you are a hobbyist or professional who primary photographs white walls with lens wide open.* *

i don't see vignetting as a big deal on my 5D.* I can correct for it in CS.*
