That is like asking which car you should buy, a sports car, a sedan, or a SUV. The answer is that you should pick the one that fits your needs the best.

I don't have the Sigma but do have the Canon EF-S 10-22mm and the Canon EF-S 15-85mm. I use both and they are excellent lenses. Going back to your original question; I would need both as I use them for different purposes. The 15-85 is not at it's best at 15mm, and the difference between 10mm & 14mm is significant).

As stated previously by other posters, it really depends on your interests whether you need the 50-85 focal lengths you'd be missing with the Sigma 10-20 + Tamron 17-50 combo, or the 10-14 focal lengths you'd be missing with only the Canon 15-85mm lens.

I have the Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 + the Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8. Although I have four other lenses, one or the other of these is on my camera most of the time.

There's a HUGE difference between 10mm and 15mm! 15mm is 50% longer.

There's a noticeable, but not as big of a difference between 50 and 85mm.

So, you can answer this question yourself: how important is ultra wideangle? How important is f/2.8? How important is 85mm vs 50mm? How important is the convenience of using a single lens?

We can't answer these questions for you.

I have a sigma 8-16 myself, and I like it a lot. I don't use the 8mm very often, though. It's generally used between 10-16.
