Default SHUTTER ACTIVATIONS

Does anyone here knows a simple way to view shutter actuations on a CANON 20D?
I'm new to this forum and would like to start meeting people....

If I'm not mistaken, there is no reliable way to tell. I think this function is limited to 1 series cameras.

Unfortunately, the Canon 20D does not write the number of shutter actuations to the EXIF data, so it is not easily checked without sending your camera in to a service center.

I think the 1-series cameras also need a program called "Canoncount" to check.

Try the EXIF VIewer http://home.pacbell.net/michal_k/exif_v.html. Works on my 20D. The field to look at is Actuation Multiplier. I am not exactly sure why the name is what it is, but I have checked it after incrementally shooting a few frames and it seems to be correct. It shows my 20D as having about 40k which I would say is accurate.

Hope it helps.

No such field when I look at mine. How about a screen shot?

Sure, sorry about the size. Had to paste two screens together to show all. Look at 4th item from bottom. Not sure what the actuation counter field is, but it's not the number of clicks* This is on a Mac, PC may be different. If you want to send an image, I'll tell you what I get in the field.

How did you get EXIF Viewer working on your Mac? It appears to be a PC program. Do I have that wrong.

I think I gave the wrong url for the Mac version the correct one that runs on Mac should be: http://homepage.mac.com/aozer/EV/ It has been a while since I installed it and I should have looked closer when I googled for the site.

Sorry about that...
