Default Sigma 30mm f1.4 vs Canon 28mm f1.8

I am trying to decide which one of the two is the best for me. I have a 30d and am looking for a fast lens for wedding, party and outdoor night stuff. The Sigma is 62 m and the Canon is 58m which fits all the filters and other stuff I use. If I got the Sigma i would need to purchase some key filters. I have the Canon 85mm 1.8.
Any comments, advice or concerns?
David

For your kit I'd go with the Canon 28mm f/1.8, as it shares your filters and other stuff.* It can also be used with film or 24x36mm full frame cameras, unlike the Sigma.* The Sigma is fairly good optically, but quality control has been said to be wanting.* I've heard of nasty corners on many copies of the Sigma.

Because of the great high ISO performance of the 30D, you can afford the one stop and still have the utility of using your existing accesories..

It's a 2/3 stop difference. I have the 28mm lens and it's a real workhorse. Get the hood for it as the whole front of the lens is glass -- it likes to flare up.

I also own the 28 f/1.8, and it is my workhorse lens, along with the 20mm f/2.8. I can't recommend it enough. As jfrancho said, definitely get the hood for it, it's worth it!

The accessories are a valid point, as are potential problems with focus issues with the Sigma. But having used canon's 35/2 28/1.8 and the sigma 30, well, the sigma is the only one I still have, and I am very happy with it. BUt if I had filters and what not that I could use interchangeably, Id probably go for the 28.
