Hello All,
Just got a wireless remote from Jessops online orders http://www.jessops.com/Store/s3344/0/Digital-Remote-Controls/Canon/Wireless-Controller-(WL-DC100)/details.aspx?&comp=n I can't get it to work with my EOS 30D, and from looking at the manual (which I should have done before I bought - but this was an afterthought that I stumbled accross) I suspect that this is because this model may not have an IR port Can anyone clarify this one for me... (he says naively). Thanks!!! Pixel __________________

That remote is not designed to work with the D30, to the best of my knowledge.
You buy an expensive camera, you have to live with the expensive remote, says Canon: the LC-5. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/cont...ist&sku=383781 ![]() Beware: The LC-5 communicates with the camera by infrared, the same way the Pocket Wizards communicate with studio lights. So using them together is problematic. Really a dumb design from Canon, and they could have fixed this with the refresh they did on the LC-4, which is now the LC-5. But they didn't address this flaw. Nikon's remote is far better, lighter, cheaper, but you're stuck with the LC-5. |

If you're attempting to trigger the shutter remotely, there is a lower cost option than the LC-5 available from several eBay sellers - the ADIDT R3.* *It can usually be found for $ 95-100 USD.* This unit functions as a cable release and as a wireless remote with a range of 100 meters ( I have not tested).* So far, I am happy with it.
If on the other hand you are attempting to (remotely) control playback display when the camera is connected to a display device - I don't think that there is any capability to do that on a 30D like a there is on some of the lower end Canons (G series, Pro-1, etc.). |

Surely Jessops will take it back, bearing in mind it is not suitable for the purpose it was purchased for?
