Which one would you buy? The prices aren't that far apart?

I did NOT like the size and feel of the one the 400 replaces, and I did the 20D, and the 30D is about the same.

Hi all !
I was just looking for some discussion on this same question: 400D or 30D* ![]() I've spent the two last days reading all there is to read about these two Canons, and still I am not sure of what I should do. (I must confess that my heart goes with the 30D) Anyway, I've found somewere at another forum, that claims to have "connections"* and says that a new 50D* is about to get out in a month or two ! Maybe at Photokina.I think I'll wait a few days to buy my new camera...after all I do have a 300D to hold on to... My best regards to all* ![]() |

If I had a need to get a new camera, and the choice was between these two, it would be the 30D. I need the wheel, I need the wieght, I need the size, I need the durability, and deep down, I would think I needed the .2 MP.

Hi !
The 30 has actually 2Mpxs less than the 400D. And does not fit the cleaning system, which is a must, I think. This features are my biggest problem when it comes to decide. But as I said before I think I'll wait a few days to know if the is a new "30D featuring a cleaning system", and then if nothing happens I'll go for the 30D. Thank you for your help. ![]() |

how on earth do you manage with that old and slow 6MP dustbuster ![]() Honestly, a cleaning system is only 'highly conveniënt', but IMHO hardly a 'must'... ...but if you are living somewhere in a windy desert, YMMV... ![]() To answer your original question: I would pick up a 30D instead of a 400D, mostly for the same reasons jfrancho has given: size, weight, wheel and durability, higher ISOcapability, ISO in viewfinder, etc And the battery fits my Pro1 and G3 better ![]() ...*my* €0.02 worth... ![]() No, I don't live in the desert...but I change lenses a lot unfortunelly ! Still, there is the "10Mpx factor", it's very convinient for the crops. I can wait a few days or a month. If a 30D with dust cleanng and 10Mpx comes along, I'll jump on it. The thing is: I don't buy cameras every day, so I might as well buy the best in it's class. __________________
