Default This place doesn't suck!

Let me just say Thank You to all that hang here. It is refreshing to have a discussion, sometimes in total agreement, sometimes in total disagreement, but it's a discussion. In that other forum that will remain nameless (suffice it to say they do excellent "digital photography reviews"), it's so fatiquing to read all the bickering and name calling. I read it in case there's that one tidbit I'm looking for. The 1D's'ers already hate the 5D'ers, and there aren't even any of us 5D'ers in existence yet. The resent their "pro level" forum having been taken over by rich amatuers. The 5D crowd wants to be part of the pros, not the 20d enthusiasts. I'm affraid to post because I'm affraid Cousin Vinny is going to come knocking on my door and may be carrying a baseball bat. It's just gotten ugly.

Ok, almost done here! I definitely feel like the "other" forum has more seasoned pros. I get the feeling that here there are some pros with varying amounts of experience, as well as eager enthusiasts/hobbyists, and we're all learning from each other....politely.

So again....Thank You to all here. Have a nice day, with whatever it is you shoot!

Sure. A discussion is just that and opinions are just that. Occasionally factual matters need clearing up and that may change a person’s outlook on a subject but that’s still part of the discussion.

For my part the 5D is probably going to be added to my MKIIs ~ I still have reservations over it highlight holding abilities. Canon say it’s based on the 20D sensor ~ so what does that mean? A bigger 20D senor only?

Some say it’s the original (unsold) 1Ds sensors? All this information, once clarified will assist me in making a decision whether to proceed with my intended plans to by the 5D or maybe pass it in favour of the more expensive 1DsMKII which has not demonstrated the sensor/image issues currently seen on the 5D.

Naturally another firmware version could transform the issue, I was totally put off the D2x for instance because of a few imaging issues that, that had ~ some of which are fixed now via firmware and my interest in that camera gets aroused from time to time, but you are so right on the other forum you are not allowed to have a discussion, it’s not known as the wild west for nothing.

Heck, I have nothing against any cameras. They're all made to do essentially the same thing!

The 5D is going to render my investment in other cameras worth less on the market, but I guess that means I can't sell.

I've always looked forward to the day when digital cameras would sell at film body prices. That day is a comin', IMO.

BTW, sometimes this place does suck, as when one guy with the initials JD posts a picture, as in:
