I have a major probleme with the canon 400D (XTi).When i use my camera in the camera in portrait, landscape, auto everything works normally.but i have a probleme with all manuals mode.
Mode A, M and DEP as soon as I turn the knob to adjust the aperture value, it drops down the minimum value, for example with my 50 mm canon at 1.8 to 2.8 with the tamron. .. I tested with 3 different lens and it's the same conclusion, I removed the battery (grip) a few minutes, same with the memory card, nothing change.when I reset the settings in the menu, the average values reappear when I switches A, M or DEP but the problem starts again each time. With the Tv mode a can normally change de value of the speed. I am part of a photography club, but nobody has ever encountered this problem, a canon user told me possibly contacts SLR but without much conviction. someone have you encountered this problem ? Thank you Regards Christophe __________________

I hope you do know about what DEP is
What drops to the minimum level? The meter in the viewfinder? Have you tried it on different ISO settings as well? What knob are you adjusting to change the aperture value? Do you realise you have to press a button if in manual mode to change the aperture? |

yes I know what it's A-DEP I support many of the Av button + - for change the aperture value in manual mode. I just noticed that the TV mode by turning the dial in any direction that the camera will lock on the value most important, ie the values are locked BULB.After it isn't possible to change the number. Please help. |

The maximum value is 30 secs-1/4000 sec on Tv, nothing wrong there, to get to BULB you will have to use manual
With A-DEP, the only thing you can change is ISO, as both aperture and shutter speed is determined by the sensor |

Sorry for my english.
Ok for the DEP mode. It's exact. But me the problem is : in M mode and Av mode i can set the value OF APERTURE ANS SPEED normally. When i turn the wheel, the value go immediatly in the smallest or highest value. exemples : with the canon 50 mm 1.8 the value in M mode or Av mode when i turne the wheel for setup goes in 1.8 Same thing with speed, when i want to set the value, i turn the wheel in the righr or in the left value goes to BULB. I don't know if you understand my problem ? |

I really don't know what you mean by the highlighted, you haven't explained what goes to the lowest value

- you set the mode dail to Av or M - you dial the front controller (sets Aperture in Av mode or Shutterspeed in M mode) - in Av mode the aperture goes to largest available (F1.8 for 50F1.8, F2.8 for Tamron 28-75F2.8 ) - turning the front controller any way does not alter the 'F1.8', it remains just that - in M mode the shutterspeed goes to largest available, being 'BULB' - turning the front controller any way does not alter the 'BULB', it remains just that If this is indeed the correct description, then your camera has a defect and in need of a trip to the Canon service center. The only thing I can think of to cure this if it is at all cureable by 'laymen' is to do a total reset (in the menu) and reload the firmware, which should be version 1.1.1 ![]() But I think a Canon service center is the better solution. ...€0.02...
