Default Wireless firing controls.

Anyone using the MicroSync Digital triggering (www.microsyncdigital.com) device with Canon cameras? They cost about the same as the Canon wireless Controller LC-5 but much smaller. :-\

I am using one with my 10D to fire my studio strobes. It works perfect I have not had one bit of problem with it.

Would that fire a remote 580EX, or does it only work with it's own receivers?

...perhaps better put it the other way: the 580ex will only fire with 'selected transmitters' ) (another 580ex, a 550ex or an ST-E2)

IIRC, you cannot use the MicroSync Digital triggering to 'direct' fire a 580ex, but I could be wrong )

Kindest regards,

I don't have one but was interested enough to research the question and it appears the answer is yes. Read the FAQ. It requires a special cable. I'm getting one of these.

Scroll down to sync cables.

I bought a MicroSync System from B&H and got it this PM. Went out and tested it for a short time. First field results were mixed. When used with the EOS 20D it will trigger the camera as long as the Auto Powet Off was on; this means if the camera was set to turn off itself after 2 minutes, the MicroSync will fire the camera within that time period. However, if 2 minutes transcurred and the camera went to sleep, the device will not awaken the camera and consequently would not fire it. I would have to turn the camera on and off again to make it work again. I figured out a way around this by settiing the camera Auto Power Off to the Off position; it works now.

With the EOS 1Ds MkII, the MicroSync will work and will awaken the camera if set to go to sleep to any specified number of minutes. No need to set the Auto Power Off to Off.

The MicroSync claims to work up to 100 feet way; it will not trigger any of the cameras from more than 30 feet away in an open field. Will do more tests tomorrow. Another item I notice is that the trigger button do not have a half way stop to awaken the camera and allowing for autofocusing...as soon as the button is pressed the camera is fired. Will explore this issue further tomorrow.

The instructions are sparce and not to clear; for example it does not explains how to open the device to install the batteries.

As big, in the way, and ugly as Pocket Wizards are, it sure is nice to ALWAYS know that when i push the button, no matter how far away from my lights I am, they're ALWAYS going to flash. My record so far is three city blocks away (line of sight).
