They didn't give an estimated price on it though. I've been looking for a lens for my wife to use on her 10D that gives her a bit more width than the 70-200 4.0L she has been using. This might be a good choice rather than buying another 24-70 for her.

That's in Australian dollars. In the US it's probably going to cost about $900. I'm assuming you're in the US?

It really depends on how much it weighs. If it weighs half of what my 24-70 weighs, I would seriously consider it for a 20D, using it as a travel/street lens. I worry about the slow f/4 though. IS is no substitute for speed.

The 24-105L weighs 670 grams. The 24-70L weighs 950 grams.
