Jay,
I appreciated reading your review and I am considering this camera for the following reasons:

I have taken taken full sized DSLRs on some tough hikes, but I am looking for a smaller, lighter camera to take on remote backpacking trips and don't want to sacrifice IQ. It seems that most compact cameras shoot RAW now, but many still have the shutter lag and hunt for focus issues mentioned in reviews. I also want something with a viewfinder as I am often outdoors in bright conditions like snow. I require something that is robust enough to stand up to the rigors or outdoor travel. The metal body and rubber plug covers seem like they would fit the bill.

One concern that I have is that in your review you mention that this camera is a battery hog. Are there options that can be set to increase battery life such art turning off the LCD image review, or other options?

Best regards,
Bob
