Default Camera bag fitting the airport criteria

Hi,
I am about to go to travelling and am still trying to find the right camera bag.

It needs to fit the handluggage criteria and I am planning to take:
  • 500mm
  • 70-200 2.8 IS
  • 10-22
  • 24-70
  • 2 SLR bodies
  • 580EXII
  • 1.4 extender
  • spare batteries
i was looking at the Think Tank Airport International or the Airport Acceleration as they fit the international hand luggage criteria but I am not sure all my gear will fit in it. They have one size bigger (Airport Security and Airport Addicted) but I am not sure all airlines would let me take this as hand luggage. I am flying with KLM.
The place to the equipment i looked at is here: thinktankphoto.com/ttp_products.html

If anyone has any experience with those bags or other recommendation, I would greatly appreciate it.

Many thanks
lefty74

just noticed similar threads are in the camera accessory forum.

would it be possible for this post to be moved there?

sorry for any inconvenience...

How long (physically) is your 500mm lens? Compare it against the dimensions of the Airport International to see if it'll fit. ThinkTank says that the International should take the 500mm.

You can easily get your 2 SLR bodies, the extra batteries, extender, and flash in, as well as two of the lenses. Not sure if you could get all three lenses in.

cheers Michael,
i think i have taken the measurements of the airport addicted and checked it against the handluggage dimensions of KLM, BA and South African Airways. It is within all their limits so I am think I am going with the Airport Addicted as this should give me plenty of space for all the gear.

now all i need is a domke vest in case i need to 'drop' some weight of my hand luggage

I use one of these:
1510 Case
Pelican 1510

Fantastic case - you can stand on it if need be. Inside dimensions 19.75" x 11.00" x 7.60"

I have two Pelican 1510 cases, but they're not carry-on allowable on many international carriers.

my biggest worry would be weight... and on that note, how strict are the airline on carry on weight?

Small wonder! They're 13.7 lbs ! 13.7 lbs ! Without so much as even a CF card in it! Would you believe that?
What are they made of? Depleted uranium?

Looking closer at what lefty74 is wanting to stick in this thing it probably won't fit. But I still hold firm on my recommendation - these cases are built very well, have a 100% unconditional guarantee and are water tight.
