Whatever you get, make sure its of good quality. There are a few brands out there that are good and some that become 'stuff' between your lens and your subject. The Hoya brand is a good one. You can get both the UV and CP filters from them.

Digital cameras have a built-in UV filter in front of the image sensor and UV filters do nothing to improve digital images, but can improve film images.
A polarizing filter (CPL) is an essential piece in a basic photography kit. I would recommend a B+W Kaeseman Polarizing filter. On wide angle lenses you may want a 'slim' version to prevent vignetting. Be careful with the Hoya brand. Some of their stuff isn't very good, but some of it is quite good. Edit: Hoya SHMC CPL , or a Hoya Pro1 CPL. Some other brands to look at are B+W, Lee, Heliopan. www.bhphotovideo.com has everything you'll likely need as a photographer and are one of, if not the most reputable online imaging equipment sellers. I usually place an order with them weekly. |

Hi there,
I don't know what camera you have SLR or PS. However I certainly recommend a filter on all your lenses, as a safety measure in dusty and sandy conditions. I suppose you have to get what is available at your place. The mentioned brands are all good - remember you get what you pay for - if it is a cheap filter it is probably poor quality. Cheers moxi1 |
