Default Sony's overpriced image tank

Sony introduces the 8GB Compact Vault Drive (http://www.dpreview.com/news/0603/06...8gbcompact.asp). It will be available in June with a suggested retail price of $259.99.
Imo waaay too expensive for its capacity.

Your joking right?
In comparison to cards at 2 and 4 gigs, $260 bucks sounds like a steal.

8 Gb CF cards are going for around $350 (USD) right now. So the Sony drive is saving you $90 - $100 in a straight up equal capacity per card comparison. As Mark stated, right now (no telling if CF card prices will take another plunge any time soon) the Sony will be a real deal for the capacity.

He might have been referring to other products that are hard drive based. You can get 40, 60, 80gb hard drive based "portable" devices for as little as $100

"The new drive is compatible with Compact Flash type II slots, and provides a significant increase in data storage over the current 5GB version."

So it's an 8gb microdrive.

Thank you very little.
