Default For all you CompactFlash cars user...

Has anyone had any problems w/ the SanDisk Compact Flash cards? I use a Nikon D1X camera and aftera few months of use, our cards start corrupting, either completely, or where they lock up the camera until I pull the battery out. The picture that it froze up on is of course lost, but after that it starts working again. It has been happening a lot lately. Is there a fix? Why do they do that?

How do delete the files from the card

If you use the delete photos option coruption can occur over time - try doing a format instead

If you do format then ignore this post

I had a problem once , It turned out that I had a bad card that had actually bent a pin in the card reader of the camera . When I took it for repair the guy said it was not as uncommon as people think .

I've got a couple of SanDisk Ultra cards and never had a problem except an occasional corrupt image. I alway reformat the card when I put it in the camera. You know you can do that with a D1x by simultaneously pressing and holding the 'delete' and 'mode' buttons, right?

Everytime I go on a new shoot I format in the camera. Perhaps I have a similiar problem to dc2? I'll have to get it checked.

Could well be a short if your having probs with the batteries as well .
You should be able to see it with a magnifying glass and you might see a mark on the card holes themselves . Really hope this is not the case as canon for one did not cover this on the warranty . It cost me £250 ,as you can imagine after spending £5000 I was slightly peeved .

I'm going to check that out, thanks for the advice. Luckily, I won't have to pay for the damage, my job will!! I'm suprised that wan't covered under warranty. > That's quite a bit of money you had to shell out to fix your brand new camera!!!

I am not over surprised . if it happens as much as the guy suggested , he also said its more likely to happen if you put the same cards in different cameras . though mine were dedicated for the same camera.
