Hi guys.
I'm in need of a backpack-style bag for an upcoming long trip. It needs to be able to hold my D80, a short lens, a long lens, maybe one more lens (likely an ultrawide), a flash, chargers and cords for the camera and the flash, and various goodies like lens paper, cleaning solution, bounce cards, a small folding reflector, small foldable makeshift diffusers, you know, that kind of stuff. I also need it to be able to accommodate my laptop (smallish), and an external hard drive (largish). Inexpensive is always good as well. Any thoughts? __________________

What's the budget?
A Jensen daypack off the back-to-school rack plus a few old towels can do all that for less than $20. And you can use the towels for other things. ![]() On the other end of the spectrum, a really nice, loaded backpack can break $200 without much trouble. |

I really don't want to go over $50 if I can help it. The regular backpack+towels idea is a nice one, but I will be living out of this thing for three months, and I know I will find the towels frustrating. I really need a bag with a set place for every piece of my kit.

With that budget, I could do it with a regular backpack. Pick up lens wraps or use the lens pouches that came with the lenses. Laptop along the back. Power supplies on the bottom. Lenses, small towel, then camera/lens on top, wrapped in a hand towel. Accessories in an outside pocket. Use the extra pack room for a few extras. Pain in the butt? No more than a regular photo backpack. Nothing about a backpack is related to speed. They're great at hauling but you'll never get anything out in a timely manner. Good luck. |

Lowepro Fastpack would fit all of it in nicely and smaller than most.
