Default GPS

Hi,
Soon I will be back to Los Angeles for a two day workshop I will be teaching.
Last year I did alot of shooting in the area arround LA and tried to remember and write down were I shot what.....
Well it worked a little bit, expect in the desert and Joshua tree park.
I know there is a way to add GPS information to the files.
As far as I know Sony has a unit that will work but it will only add the information to JPEGs.
I shoot with both a 5D/1DsIII and a Leaf digital back.
I would love the following.
A GPS units (small) that is synced with the time on my cameras.
When I get back in the hotel at the end of the day I would like to download the GPS unit and sync this with the RAWs of my cameras (in lightroom or any other programm).
Anyone an idea ?
Greetings,
Frank

With the WFT-E2 wireless transmitter, you can connect a Garmin GPS product and sync the GPS data with your files.

Unfortunately, that's about all I know. With my Nikons, you just connect a GPS device using the correct cord, and away you go.

Have a look at this link. This little program may be just what you're looking for...

gpicsync
Automatically geocode pictures from your camera and a GPS track log.

Afaik all GPS/geolocalizing apps work with JPG only, Frank. So unless your cams can shoot RAW+JPG you seem out of luck.

Not true luckely.
I just received the Gisteq pro.
That one records it in the RAW files from my 5D and Leaf Aptus22

So I'm totally happy with it.
You have to order the pro version however, the normal version only supports jpeg.
Seeing the price off app 135.00 US it's (with the current $-€) a steal for us Europeans
