Hi everybody,
I have borrowed Speedlite 430EX from my friend, basically to try and learn to work with Flashgun. As I mounted the 430EX in the HotShoe, I was trying to setup the flash parameter from the camera body. In the Main Menu > Flash control I found that in External flash func. setting I'm only able to setup the FEC and E-TTL II metering functions. The Flash mode, Shuter sync. and FEB are greyed out and do not allow to be modified. If I try to look into the External flash C.Fn setting there is a message "This menu cannot be displayed. Incompatible flash or flash's power is turned off. Altrought the flash is on. All these features are configurable from the Flash unit without problem. My question is, if this begavior is normal, or there is some compatibility issue known with this combination. Thank you in advance __________________

I set ETTL-II to evaluative and sometimes second curtain sync on the cam, everything else on the flash itself. never bothered to try to control it from the camera, since its easier to me to do it on the flash.

This behavior is normal, the menu on the 40D only fully works with the 580exII, not with any other (older) flashunits... ...€0.02... Kindest regards! Max@Home |
