Question Epson P-3000 sale

I was trying to do a little research on my next purchase, I'm looking at the Epson P-3000 media storage/viewer & on the Epson site they are offering 2 mail in rebates. Is this a good sale for this unit & is it worth purchasing? The sale price is $299.99. Epson P-3000, Overview - Product Information - Epson America, Inc.

**edit** the P-5000 is on sale as well

The P-3000 is still $399.95 on Amazon, so I'd say that's a pretty sweet price. The P-5000 is $582.93 though, so the Epson sale price on the more expensive unit isn't worth it.

We have the P-5000, and it's a pretty sweet unit. Transfers fairly quickly, gorgeous viewing screen, much smaller than a laptop. The P-3000 is similar, but with smaller capacity, obviously.

I've been using the P2000 for a couple years and it's a great tool to have. Easy, compact, safe, nice size screen, clears your cards so you don't have to overload them and worry about loss.

I can't tell you about price but it's a great tool to have along.

For info on other devices checkout the storage forum at DPreview.com (sorry can't post links yet)

I just bought the Epson p3000. There are tons of devices out there. The biggest advantage of the Epson is the screen, the best specs of all I looked at. Since I wanted a big screen for reviewing and sharing the photos, the epson was my first choice. But its the most expensive. With the rebates and amazon coupons I had it only cost me $35. Also DIY'ers have figured out how to upgrade the drive up to 120gb. I'll be doing that eventually.

People at DPR storage section are saying good things about Hyperdrive Colorspace and Nexto. There are others of course.

Been thinking about one of these for summer vacation.
