Default WALKSTOOL Anyone?????

Have any of you every used the Swesish made Walkstool. I have been considering buying one to use for wildlife photography, but someone reviewed this widely available accessory at B&H and absolutely panned it. In your experience is this a quality item or a bad toy? Is there a better chair/stool to use in the field?

Thanks,
Tom

I love mine. It is very compact, and easy to carry, but comfortable. It is a little pricey, but I think it is well worth it.

thanks,
Danny

Danny,

Thanks. Do you happen to know which model you own? I am happy to hear that you like yours. I was sold on this until I read that horrible review on the B&H site.

I believe it is the 18" model. I couldn't be happier, I think I did see one bad comment at Adorama, but it was because the person did not extend the legs. If you look at the picture, the legs extend right at the point that all three meet together, so it would not be stable if you do not extend them.

thanks,
Danny

Cabelas has a few options for stools, I have been looking at the walkstool as well as cabelas, christmas wish list stuff. I kind of like the stool with the back at cabelas.

Mr. Mikey,

Thanks much. I will take a look at Cabelas also. I tried out the Walkstool yesterday after the information here and i found this to be surprisingly good, but seemingly expensive. I also did a couple of Internet searches and I did not turn up anything even close to the size, weight or quality of the Walkstool.

Mr. Mikey,

I just reviewed the Cabelas offerings and the Walkstool. I looked at the OEM websites for the Cabelas offerings. IMHO, the weight handling rating of the Walkstool is way better than is that of the Cabellas offerings. On a three legged stool, I suspect this coule be a major issue relative to a four-legged stool or chair. In any event, my superficial conclusion is that the Walkstool is far better quality than the other stools/chairs that I have seen or read about.

from everything i have read since this thread started i think the walkstool is more expensive but worth every penny of it. it is going on my list.

I could never understand why they make a camo stool when you are sitting on it anyway .

Mr. Mikey,

Me thinks that camo stools cover up a whole lot of horses rear ends and a few belonging to some photographers I know, also!

Your choice and mine are the same. i just ordered the Walkstool.

Happy Day,
Tom

Amazon has some options also. I picked up a 3 legged stool at IKEA last spring for $6.00. It's a seasonal item. The legs are 1 piece, don't extend. Came with a nylon carrying bag. For the price, I couldn't not purchase it. It works great for my needs.

I own the two shorter styles of the walkstool. they are well made and like any stool of this design one needs to be somewhat careful just where one sits on them (the leg tops are somewhat uncomfortable if one unwisely chooses to sit on one rather than on the nylon seat).
