Default Off camera flash techniques for wedding photographers

I want to buy an off-camera flash system for wedding photography. Something very portable and easy to set up would be great. I'm thinking the arms that sit on the camera still hold the flash too close. I'd ideally love to be able to have the flash to the right or left of the couple and be able to shoot. Are there wireless flash systems that are easy/affordable to use for weddings? I worry those flash cords will get in the way of people walking in and out of scenes, etc.... esp. with a bunch of people dancing on a dance floor, etc. I'm using a Nikon D200 as my primary camera.

Thank you in advance
Eunice

The answer is yes! Read your manual as to the SB600 and SB800 with commander mode. More info on nikon usa website.
