Default Ipod photo

There 20G photo version is out and I reckon is quite keenly priced.

I am curious how many of us here use the Ipod Photo and find it useful as a photo accessory and maybe
tell us how do use it in your workflow, either as a pro or not.

I don't have one, but I'm looking into it. The 15" powerbook is sometimes a bit big to lug around.

Cheers

I have the 60Gb iPod Photo. I use a belkin card reader and download my photos onto it in the field so I do not have to carry my laptop with me. The time it takes to download a 1Gig CF card is very slow. I think around 20 minutes but I have a lot of 1 Gig cards so I am not in a hurry. I also have placed some of my top photos on the Ipod and when I run into people who wish to see my work and I do not have my portfolio handy, I just pull out the Ipod and show them the pictures. Its also great for when I am hiking out in the wild as I can jam to my favorite music.

Saw the queen bought an iPod. Wonder if she has a digital camera.

I didn't know you can directly transfer photos/songs into the iPod. I was advised that you need to use iPhoto/iTunes and perform some
form of sync. Will check again with Apple website.

Anyway

Canon has an adapter for the iPod that lets you transfer photos to it but the Belkin adapter is better. You will have to google for it.

As for transferring songs onto the iPod you must use iTunes.

my big complaint with all photo storage devices is they do notwork with Fuji raw files.

The iPod does not yet work with any RAW images.. you can upload them, but you can't preview them

As a backup device, I think the iPod is a poor choice. As a marketing device, it's golden. I've already made up its cost in print sales by keeping a portfolio of my best work on there. It's small enough that I can keep it handy, and when someone wants to see what kind of 'photographer' I am, I can show them right away.

The Nano promises to be even more portable in this regard. The jury is out, however, as to whether I'll actually get one of those little guys.
