Default Bad SD card

A friend of mine went for a holiday in Korea with 2X 512mb Sd cards. Half way thru one of the cards could not be read after having several shots. She asked me for help when she got home. I tried several card-reader but still unable to read.
Anyone has any suggestions?
Thank you.

Check on the side of the card for a small slide switch that may have been accidently switched to write only.

Depends on the card SanDisk has rescue software that you can download for free. works ok. I have this issue before with a 512 generic brand. Once they don't want to work they are trash. That is one of the demons of digital photography. If you had lost a roll are 36 pictures but if you lost a card usually they are more. That’s why you want to invest as much as you can in your cards.

Purchase software that will do a low level read of all info on the disk. It's amazing what the software can do.

I've recovered data from formatted and corrupt disks.

I use Bad Copy Pro. (Do a google search) It has never failed me.

I've used PC Inspector Smart Recovery with excellent results. It's free, search Downloads.com for it. There are two, you want the one for removable storage devices.

Why are we still suggesting things to a thread that's in the neighborhood of 3 years old? The revival was obviously made by a spammer. 1st post to a 3 yr old thread and contains an ad link.
Just wonderng.
