Default Off-Camera Shutter Release

I've got the Canon Rebel XTi camera and I'm looking to get a wired shutter release for it. However, it appears that the cord length for these is only about 2ft. Is there any way to extend this to say 10ft?

There are 3rd party mfr's of the electronic cable release that offer a choice of 2' and 6'. I got one off ebay which works w/all my canon's from 10D through 1Ds2.

It is, yes. However, I don't want the wireless version because of the line of sight issues I've read about. Just a personal preference.

Hmm...might look into it, but ideally what I'd like to have is the option to add some extension cables or something to it. I'd really like to be able to reach longer lengths if possible.

chuck,
you can buy the wired remote switch RS-60E3, split the cord in two and reconnect the halves with a long cord in between as described in this link

Or you can go the selfmade route

Call Adorama and see if this: RSRT04EOSP Adorama Wireless Radio Remote Release for Canon EOS Rebel XT, Contax 645 and Hasselblad H Series Cameras fits the XTi as well. Wireless, not line-of-sight, compact and reliable. I have one for my 20D.

It works closer, too.

It's actually ideal for remote release with wildlife.
