Default Remote Control for 20D

Hello....

Does anyone know of a remote control non-cord type to use for shooting instead of having to hook up a cord to the camera, instead of using the self-timer and mirror lock-up?

Thanks,
Michele

If you had pocket wizards then you could buy the pocket wizard adapter for the camera and control it with your pocket wizard. It will not give you all the controls but would give you the ability to fire off the camera from a distance. Of course the cost of the pocket wizard transcender and the adapter together is around 400.00 I believe.

I cannot think of any other wireless controllers at this time.

Michelle, look on eBay for the Adidt R3 wireless remote. I bougjht mine thru a guy named Jeff Lau in California, but there is a store in the U.S. and a guy located in China who also sell the same wireless remote. Jeff sells a version which will reach 100 meters (300') in wireless mode, or it can be used as a wired remote when you are standing there at the tripod. Much less money than a Pocket Wizard, which is more suited to a pro shooting weddings and who uses it to trigger multiple flash units.

Yes, you want the LC-4. There's now an LC-5 that has superceded the LC-4, I believe. Both are expensive, clunky, not as elegant as Nikon's wireless remotes. But I consider the LC-4 or LC-5 indispensible. I carry it with me everywhere.

Warning: they can interefere with pocket wizards when the pws are used to control studio strobes because they both transmit signals in the same way.

Ouch! The LC-5 is $450 discounted by Adorama, plus shipment.
The Adidt R3 cost me about $120 with shipment.

Admittedly the LC-5 has a delay mode, and it allows you to choose remotely to shoot Continuous vs. Single shot at will, whereas the Adidt requires you to set Continous shot mode at the camera. But at 3.5x the price, it better offer sexual services, too, to be worthwhile <grin>

Got a wireless remote shutter release on E-Bay about 6 months ago. I can't remember the vender but the remote is great!! Retains full function including focus ect.Comes with a small canvas bag. The text on the bag says "rps Studio, RF Shutter Release for Digital SLR." The it says across the bottom of the bag,"Marketed by Dot Line Corp. Chatsworth, CA 91311. Hope this helps

Anyone have valid links to where I could get a Adidt R5? I can't seem to find anything on eBay.

Adorama sells the same unit here: http://www.adorama.com/CZDR5DR.html?...mote&item_no=6

Picked one up a few weeks ago but haven't tried it yet.
