I usually shoot with my Nikon D100, but recently had it stolen. I rented the D2X (fabulous camera) to shoot a job today, and Photoshop CS will not open the raw images in the browser!! I know that the D2X is a relatively new camera. Is this a software upgrade problem? Do I need CS2? I hate Nikon's raw conversion software. Can anyone help?

Try update to Camera Raw 2.4 for CS (if you use CS2 you might need to update Camera Raw to 3.1). If you use CS (not CS2) you should also download DNG Converter and convert your raw files to dng and then open them in Camera Raw 2.4. But I'm not sure it's working since I read somewhere that Nikon has done some coding for their WB settings. Might have to use Nikon's own raw converter.

You need Adobe Raw 3 which is only in CS2. Adobe is the Microsoft of the new Millennium.

Thanks everyone! You are correct. I went out and bought CS2, then still nothing opened!! After a few frantic phone calls to Adobe (hereafter known as The Very Very Big Corporation) I downloaded upgrades, and now I have it running. It is really fantastic! I love the D2X. I used the D1X briefly when freelancing for my media client. They bought a bunch of them. I think the D2X is better. The menus, and options are easier to access quickly, and the camera is somewhat more intuitive. I would love to own one, but I am still getting back on my feet after our break-in, and need to buy a somewhat less expensive camera. Everyone's thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately, no. I didn't expect to. That kind of thing never get resolved. I just bought a new camera, and moved on. It sucks. I also bought a safe, and am looking into insurance. The D2X ROCKS, by the way. I need to get one soon, but don't have the 5 grand at the moment.

Yes....my experience has been that Nikon capture installs a PhotoShop plug-in so that you can open the images. I hate the Nikon software, however, and love CS2s raw plug in. It would have been helpful if they clued me in to the fact that I had to upgrade the Photoshop plugin.
