Default Feisol tripods

Anyone have any experience with these? They look like Gitzo knock-offs, but much cheaper.

I've heard good things about them, but I haven't actually touched them. What I've been told is that they're some of the best Gitzo knockoffs; they don't hold up as well, but the price is right.

I wanted to check them out when I was in Taiwan in July but my dad came down with pneumonia on the way to Japan (good ol' airplanes + overexerted athlete = oops), so we ended up spending time checking out Taipei's healthcare. I'm a bit wary of ordering items from overseas that I've never touched, so I haven't purchased any Feisol products. I ended up settling for a cheap aluminum Giottos set-up (also Taiwan mfg'd, but they distribute to B&H) which I'm working on and will eventually recieve Arca-Swiss type quick-release clamps/plates when I can spare the cash. It holds whatever I stick on it, which is good enough for now.

I have one of their monopods and one of their ballheads (the ballhead is on my gitzo tripod). Both are awesome for the price!

Read my review at http://www.photocamel.com/index.php/topic,4118.0.html. And you can buy them in the USA from an outfit in California from the same price as directly from Feisol.

I am still very happy with my combination of tripod and ball head. It is not inferior to other famous brands...in this case a picture is not better than 2000 words...you must handle and compare them personally.

Here it is: http://www.thresholdconcepts.com/ind...FSFWPgodeiV5UQ

I have excellent deals with this company. Also notice what is amazing about Feisol is that they offer update kits to upgrade old tripods to match the current models.

Do let us know how you like it. I've been looking at the Feisol tripods myself.

I will! I like hiking, and I plan a quite strenuous one for next June (at least for my level), so I was really giving weight a priority. But this one seems to offer more then just a light weight
