Default Suggeston for book(s) on Adobe CS2

I am looking for a book that dumbs down Adobe CS and really gets into the "how to use" aspect of the program. Can someone recommend a good book(s) that will fill my needs?

Thank you.

I'm not sure, but I kind of like Scott Kelby's books. I've translated his Photoshop CS for digital photographers and will now start on the upgraded version, Photoshop CS2 for digital photographer. It's a lot of great tricks in it, but it's not going through each and every meny and item in Photoshop. It's more aimed at adjusting images and enhance your digital photo's.

How did you get into the translating biz on that level?

Albert, I emailed and asked the Swedish publisher if they needed a translator. They sent me a trial text that I did and that was to their liking and I was given my first book to translate (actually Scott Kelby's Photoshop CS book). That did seem to be to their liking too, so I got another job, to translate a book about digital photography. But it seems I'm doing most of Scott Kelby's books now, mainly becuase I sort of "master" his flow of language. Even if it's a bit tiresome, espeically his rants in each chapter intro. (but it pays for my photo hobby, so I can't complain!)

Must agree with Petra, that was the first Photoshop book I bought that had more info that I didn't know than I did know. Not a good book for a newbie though.

Cheers

I'll agree with others that Scott Kelby's books are pretty informative. I'll agree they are not for the brand new PS user, but they may inspire some of them to keep working and playing with it. Katrin Eismanns books are very good information too, but she can really get into some wild stuff that newbies don't want to get into.

Default Photoshop CS2 Workflow: The Digital Photographer's Guide

I have just finished the best Photoshop book I have ever read! Tim Grey, Photoshop CS2 Workflow: The Digital Photographer's Guide. He steps you through the entire process, covers some really effective editing techniques, and doesn't waste any time with things photographers don't care about. If you are new to Photoshop, it may look a little intimidating just flipping through it, but he really lays everything out step by step and click by click, with clear explanations. Unlike my impressive collection of Photoshop books that became really expensive doorstops, he does not go item by item through menues with no hint about why you should care. The format is -here's a picture, here's what you want to fix, here's how you fix it, this is why you should do it this way rather than that way. Good stuff.

I need a good overview of CS2 so have taken your recommendation and have placed an order on Amazon. I really want to avoid a "by the numbers, here's what everything does" type book.

Time to resurrect this thread... I've also recently received the Martin Evening book on PS CS2 (ISBN: 0240519841) and have to say it is very well written, with a photographers slant. Slightly annoying that this English writers text has been Americanised (i.e. Americanized ), but a good read nonetheless. Printed on good quality paper too.

I bought the book, too, but it's sitting on my floor amongst a pile of other books.

It looks good there!
