"Hey! Hey I found one!!" - Don Rickels, Kelly's Heroes
Someone actually made a leveling base big enough to be used with the Arca-Swiss B2/Z2 (i.e., without the level being hidden below the head). http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=360329375174 Got mine yesterday. Now I can finally use my AS B2 head without the annoyance of having to re-level upon every slight turn. The company that makes it is from China, and I'm not exactly familiar with them, but this leveling base is made with medium format/large format in mind, so hopefully it'll be durable for me. It feels like it's well made, and provides a very nice 17 degrees of adjustment range. I had been using a "Two-headed monster" approach, with a Wimberly Type II head and an NPC Pro Head mounted on opposite ends of my Benbo 2 tripod center column, but it was a bit awkward to switch from one to the other, since I had to flip the whole tripod around each time. The Arca-Swiss B2 is heavy enough to use with my biggest lens (the Pro Head could support the weight, but adjusting it would be too hairy), so it offers me an easier "one head" solution. The price already went up since I bought mine - sheesh! __________________
