I have the 679 and it's a good monopod. One thing you'll want to look at is replacement parts if the latches break.

Been using a 680B with a Wimberley C-10. I think they've replaced the C-10 with the C-12, not sure. It fits the Kirk Arca-Swiss-type feet that I've installed on all my telephotos. Works great.

Just recived the Vulbon RUP-L43, Not a bad Monopod holds good,very light,it comes with a swivel ball on it all ready so i can tilt it, Still wating for the Manfrotto 679b to come in ill let you know what i think about that one

Shortly after i recived the Manfrotto monopod 679b well please with it thou it dose not come with a swivel ball to tilt your camera its in opinion its much better and sturdy than the Velbon both good but Manfrotto feels like better quality
