For landscapes I'd choose the 24mm Nikon tilt/shift. I wish I had one myself after talking to you about it this afternoon. I think a wide-angle POV would be especially valuable when shooting those grand vistas of the west. A tilt-shift lens is also very handy for macro work.

Here's a shot of the Panamint Valley, just west of Death Valley that was taken on 4x5 BW film with a 75mm wide-angle lens. A 75mm lens on 4x5 is similar to a 24mm lens on a full-framd DSLR.

Thank you Brooks, I really appreciate the feedback. Since that lens is out of stock & backorder for B+H & Adorama, I’ll spend some time reading up on it.

I understand that for about $135.00 you can send the lens to Nikon and they will change the lens so that both the tilt and shift are on the same axis. Would that be advantageous?

I'll have to take a look at my lens but I don't see any real advantage to having the tilt and shift on the same axis. I'm not sure what would be gained by having the tilt and shift on the same axis.
