Default Aaah, this should be interesting.

Well, I have to figure out pretty quickly how to make a light box and take product photography. It started out as a job opportunity to help a guy build his website and help him figure out how to use his camera. Umm...now there may not be any website work and just photography. I'm fine with that, I like photography better than having to use some template that someone else thinks is the way to go and all. Still, it is a bit nervewracking...this is not the type of photography I've done before. It will be all woodworking, mostly bowls with some pens and eventually furniture. I got the job because he was looking for someone who would be willing to do some work and not get paid but would do it in exchange for woodworking. We need bunkbeds for the boys and I have a VERY specific idea of what I want (it will look like a bunkhouse...the room has an "Old West" theme to it) and we can't afford good bunk beds so this is a way we both get something we need but can't afford. Works for me, now I just need to figure out how to make the photography aspect work. He's getting me a white sheet, had a bunch of PVC for me, and a couple lights on stands.

Anyway, just had to share, I'm excited but nervous, and anxious to get this going.

Sara

Sara, you are in the Beaverton area aren't you? I think you said your husband works at Jones Farm? Have I got the right one of you? If so and you would like to borrow my light tent, you are welcome to do so. I'm using my mono-lights at the moment but I have two photo flood sets that are unused that I have as well that will be better than work lights.

Oh Mike you are a gem. You have me confused with Elaine I think, but close...we've known each other for ages. My husband works at IBM (old Sequent buildings on Walker). I would LOVE to borrow the light tent so I can get some practice in with good equipment before I have to make the not so great stuff work. I'm sure I can end up making it work, but it would help my confidence and I'm sure my capability if I had a chance to work with the real stuff. Thank you so much for the incredibly kind offer, I REALLY appreciate it!

Yes, I had you two mixed up. You guys looks so much alike in type.

When would be a good time to meet somewhere so I can pass it off to you? I live in Hillsboro and work downtown Portland. I'm usually off work around 3pm (I'm in before 6am) and come back down Hwy26 so can swing down 217 to Walker easily enough. If I can pass it off on Thursday or Friday that should work and give me tomorrow to get it all together. Or if some other time and location is better, let me know. And you are welcome.

Mike

Hehe...yeah, Elaine and I do look lots alike in type, we have a heck of a lot of similarities. She's got one boy and I've got two , so either I'm more insane or more lucky, I'm not sure which. Oh, and we have different cameras. Otherwise we'll be confusingly similar in print most of the time I bet.

Woohoo! I will ask my husband (he's asleep already, the bum ) which day will work better for him to not bike, and I'll let you know tomorrow and I'll give you his cell phone number so you can call him and he can get it from you. Would that work?

Sounds good. The light tent folds up into a fairly small flat package. The 2 photo floods are in a box apiece with the aluminum reflectors taking up most of the room.

My e-mail is mjordan@europa.com if you want to send it that way.
